1. How to download games on your PS4 remotely
If you spot a tasty PSN deal and want to treat yourself to a brand new AAA or an indie, you don't have to wait until you get home. Wherever you happen to be you can download it to your PS4 before you've even got your keys in the front door.
Head to the PlayStation Store on your mobile or laptop, purchase your selected content and then navigate to the Download List page under your account in the top right hand corner of the site.
From here you can download your new purchase, along with anything you've ever bought ever on PSN, and get it ready to play as soon as you get in – provided your PS4 is on Standby Mode and not completely turned off.

2. How to save your DualShock 4 battery life
One of the worst things about the PS4 is the battery life of the DualShock 4 controller. You won't get more than a few hours of gaming out of the pad, and unless you've got two, you'll end up spending half the time with your controller plugged in. Not quite what you expected for next-gen gaming, right?
Well, there is a way to get more gaming action out of a single charge by turning down the brightness of the light bar on the front. Head to Settings > Devices > Controllers> Brightness and then set it to the lowest brightness settings to increase your DualShock 4's battery life significantly.
3. How to store your save games in the cloud
If you're a member of the subscription service PS Plus – which we'd really recommend, as you get a regular supply of free games and access to online multiplayer – you can get cloud storage for all your games.
That means you can delete games from your PS4 to free up storage and if you ever download them again, your save game will be right there so you can pick up where you left off.
PS Plus costs £39.99 a year, £14.99 for three months or £5.99 a month.
4. How to store your save games on a USB
If you're not signed up for PS Plus, there's another way of backing up your save game files: whack them on a USB dongle instead.
To do this, grab your trusty USB drive, plug it into your PS4 and then go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Storage.
You'll see an option for 'Copy to USB storage device', which then lets you copy all your save data across to your stick. Just in case.
5. How to share your games with friends
We bet you're very proud of all the shiny PS4 games you've got in your library. Dr dre still dre download mp3. You're probably the envy of all your friends. But why not take the moral high ground and actually share them with your mates?
Using the PS4 feature known as Share Play, you can let someone on your friends list take over your console virtually, almost as if you were handing over the controller in person, or giving your office's IT guy those special privileges he likes so much.
Hold down the Share button and hit 'Share Play', which will bring up a menu with three options. You can let someone else watch you play (pressure!); let them play the game as you (lazy!); or play together co-operatively (fun!) – all of which can be done without the other person actually owning the game (clever!).
6. How to use PS4 Remote Play with a PS Vita
If you're smart enough to own Sony's lovely little handheld console, the PS Vita, along with a PS4 you can take advantage of Remote Play. This feature allows you to play all your PS4 games on your PS Vita, as long as you've got a fast enough Wi-Fi connection, and is rather handy if someone else needs the TV or you fancy playing PS4 games while in the bath (it happens).
Make sure you're signed into the same PSN ID on both consoles - the PS4 and PS Vita - and then go to your PS4 and go to Settings > PS Vita Connection Settings and then select Enable Remote Play. Make sure you pick the 'connect directly' option, as this lets the PS4 and PS Vita connect over the more stable Wi-Fi Direct rather than your Wi-Fi connection.
Now you'll need to select Add Device, and then go to the Link app on your PS Vita and enter the four-digit code that your PS4 will be displaying on screen.
Then, you're ready to go. In the future, whenever you want to use Remote Play, just go to the Link app on your PS Vita.
7. How to use PS4 Remote Play with a Sony Xperia smartphone or tablet
Okay, so many of you may not have a PS Vita but you might be rocking a Sony Xperia smartphone or tablet. You'll be pleased to hear your can use a Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact or newer for PS4 Remote Play.

To do it, you just download the PlayStation App from Google Play and then sign into your PlayStation account. Link your phone and your PS4 using the same method we've outlined above for the PS Vita.
Always make sure you're connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and then connect your PS4 DualShock 4 to your phone via Bluetooth. You do this by holding down the PlayStation and Share buttons simultaneously until the light bar flashes and then finding the controller in your Bluetooth devices on your phone.
8. How to use your PS Vita as a second controller
If you're not interested in Remote Play at all, but would quite like to take part in some couch co-op gameplay and are lacking a second (or third, or fourth) DualShock 4, then your PS Vita can come in handy there, too.
You can actually use your PS Vita as an additional PS4 controller, by using Remote Play (see above). When you're all connected with those steps, press the PlayStation Button your DualShock 4 and log in as a guest (or alternate account) on the PS4. Don't sign into your normal account, as that will disconnect the PS Vita's Remote Play connection!
When you're both connected, you can enjoy some co-op action without having to fork out £40 or so for another DualShock 4. Result.
9. How to turn on your PS4 using your TV (and vice versa)
Although the Xbox One is better know for its ability to sync up with your TV and streaming boxes, the PS4 also has a TV-related feature up its sleeve.
If you go into your PS4 Settings, go to System > Enable Enable HDMI Device Link and then you can perform link operations such as turning on and turning off your TV and PS4 using your TV remote.
It has to be a newer TV (particularly new Sony Bravia sets, for example) that can recognise and display 'PlayStation 4' in the input source list, but if you can do that it's handy trick to save you some time.
For example, if both your TV and PS4 are on standby, just hit the power button on your controller and you'll kickstart both of them. Or if you're watching TV, switching to the HDMI input will boot up your PS4.
10. How to use your phone as a PS4 keyboard
There's nothing worse than trying to input a game code, or send a PSN message using the keyboard function of the PS4. Make your life a lot easier by downloading the PlayStation App on your phone, which will allow you to turn your phone into a PS4 keyboard.
Simply download the app on your Apple or Android device, select the Connect to PS4 option when your phone/tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network as your PS4 and then you can navigate the UI with your phone and use the on-screen keyboard.
11. How to use a proper keyboard with your PS4
If using your phone as a keyboard isn't your bag, you can connect a Bluetooth- or USB-powered keyboard to your PS4 instead. Just plug in your wired USB one and follow the quick setup instructions, or for a Bluetooth typing machine go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth Devices and then get your PS4 to scan for nearby devices.
12. How to reduce your notifications
Isn't it really annoying when you're watching a movie or recording some gameplay footage and you get a notification telling you that someone you know has come online or has joined a party?
There's a way to limit that barrage of useless information to a bare minimum. Head to Settings > Notifications and you uncheck as many notification boxes as you fancy. Or turn them all on if you so wish – hey, it's your console.
13. How to appear offline
It's now possible to appear offline while you're playing games or watching movies and TV on PS4, meaning you can exist in a nice Do Not Disturb bubble for a bit or just lurk till your heart's content.
And it's incredibly easy to do – from the PS4's main menu, head to your profile (the tile with your face or avatar on it). Underneath said picture or avatar within your profile is a boxed labelled 'Online Status'. If you hit that, you can choose to 'Appear Offline'.
The icon next to your username then changes from a blue circle to a red circle with a cross through it, just to indicate that you're appearing offline.
